SIMPLOT EMPLOYEES RAISE RECORD-BREAKING $196,454 for the Annual Community Giving Campaign led by United Way of Southeastern Idaho
POCATELLO, ID, December 18, 2024 – During the 80th anniversary celebration of the J.R. Simplot Company’s Don Plant, employees presented a ceremonial check of $196,454 to United Way of Southeastern Idaho. This transformative donation marks the largest workplace contribution to United Way of Southeastern Idaho in the organization's history, highlighting the employee's enduring commitment to supporting local nonprofit programs that create meaningful change in the lives of their neighbors.
The funds were raised through Simplot’s annual workplace giving campaign, with employees signing up to contribute directly from their paychecks and participating in numerous activities. The company matched employee contributions, amplifying the immense collective impact of their generosity.
“Simplot’s Pocatello Don Plant is thrilled to celebrate both 80 years of continuous operation and a milestone year in contributing to the United Way of Southeastern Idaho,” said Plant Manager Trish Arave. “We are a company committed to helping feed the world and supporting our community, all at the same time. We have a remarkable team that has put extraordinary effort into various fundraising efforts throughout the year. I am truly humbled by the generosity of our employees who donate their hard-earned money to help those less fortunate, and I am so grateful to work for a company that will match those funds.”
The $196,454 donation will provide critical support for United Way’s community investment process, providing flexible grant dollars to local nonprofit organizations working to improve the lives of children, families, and individuals in need.
“With this remarkable gift from Simplot employees, we will be able to make an even greater impact, funding programs that directly impact the financial stability, education, and health of families in SE Idaho,” said Wendi Ames, Director of Donor and Community Engagement at United Way of Southeastern Idaho. “These dollars change the trajectory and create a better life for our neighbors and ultimately a stronger more vibrant Southeastern Idaho.”
Last year, United Way’s corporate giving campaigns, including Simplot’s contributions, supported 29 programs, serving 46,400 households in need across the region. This year’s increased donation will allow United Way to expand its reach, driving transformative change in local communities.
Special appreciation goes to Misty Bloxam, Don Plant workplace giving campaign manager, and the United Way Committee for their tireless efforts in organizing this successful campaign.
